In 2024, a devastating fire destroyed our original processing factory — the home of what many in Southland knew as 'Fordes Pet Food'.

What could have marked the end, instead became the beginning of a new chapter. From the ashes, 'Southern Pet Food' was rebuilt with a renewed vision, modern purpose and commitment to the communities that have supported us for generations.

Proudly based in Winton, Southland, New Zealand, we understand the values of rural life — hard work, loyalty, practicality and looking after one another. Supporting local farming communities has always remained at the heart of what we do, and rebuilding our factory gave us the opportunity to invest in the future of New Zealand sourced pet nutrition.

Today, our rebuilt facility operates with state-of-the-art machinery and modern processing systems, allowing us to transform a devastating event into an opportunity for innovation and growth. Through this journey, 'Paw Cuisine' was created — a premium retail range of wholesome, real nutrition for dogs and cats.

From frozen raw pet food through to natural air-dried treats, our philosophy centres around nose-to-tail utilisation and respecting the value of the whole carcass. By using quality New Zealand sourced ingredients, we aim to create honest products that reflect nature as closely as possible.
